A painting that is 50% red and 50% green will not convey an overall mood as effectively as a painting where one color dominates. This gives the painting an overall mood and feeling. For example, if you are using a complementary color scheme of red and green, it’s best to make either red or green the dominant color, rather than using both colors in equal amounts. In other words, colors are more interesting when they are used in unequal amounts.
